Family Mediation

What is Family Mediation?

Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process (ADR). It is an alternative to the traditional approach of lawyers and litigation.

In family mediation, a professionally trained professional, known as a mediator, helps to facilitate a resolution between you and your ex regarding all of your family issues such as equalization, the matrimonial home, spousal and child support, parenting time, decision making responsibilities and more.

The mediator will remain neutral and unbiased at all times while helping both of you negotiate yourselves.

Mediation is a voluntary process that both parties must agree to. The parties maintain total control over the resolution and what agreement comes out of mediation.

It is important that both parties enter mediation in good faith with a view to resolve their issues.

Mediation saves on average most people approximately 75% on legal fees. In addition, most mediation matters are resolved in under 9 months, as opposed to the 24 plus months it takes with litigation.
